Securing a city-centre construction site
Out-of-hours guarding and patrols for a live construction site in Birmingham.
The challenge
- A multi-phase construction project in Birmingham city centre was experiencing repeated out-of-hours trespass and attempted theft of plant and materials.
- The site had several access points, changing hoarding lines and regular deliveries, making a fixed single-gate solution impractical.
- The principal contractor needed a visible deterrent plus a clear incident record for insurers.
Our approach
- We carried out a full site survey and agreed a mix of a gatehouse officer during working hours and mobile patrols with lock checks overnight.
- Officers maintained a daily occurrence book, photographed any breaches or hazards, and escalated directly to the site manager and our control room.
- Patrol frequency was increased during high-risk periods such as long weekends and plant deliveries.
The outcome
- Out-of-hours incidents reduced following deployment. [PLACEHOLDER – insert verified figure, e.g. “no successful thefts in the first six months”]
- The incident log satisfied the insurer's requirement for documented security measures. [PLACEHOLDER – confirm with client]
- The contract was extended to cover the next phase of the development. [PLACEHOLDER – confirm with client]
